About Vanessa Felhauer

I received my BA in piano performance in 1995 and my MM in music therapy in 1998. I began teaching piano in 1999. Not long after that I also began working part time in campus ministry with Great Commission Ministries (now Reliant). It was that experience along with my background in music therapy that eventually led me to pursue an MA in counseling, which I finished in 2013.

Along the way I worked as an accompanist for several churches as well as Niwot High School. I worked as a music therapist for Hospice of Larimer County (now Pathways Hospice) and in two skilled nursing facilities. After four years in campus ministry, I went on to work in communications, community outreach, women’s ministry, and counseling at Summitview Church.

C4R is the coupling of the interests and talents God has given me. I enjoy the diversity of two different career paths, as well as how they overlap. In the music studio my music therapy background allows me to bring the enjoyment of music to children with learning or physical disabilities, and my counseling background can bring unique perspective to performance anxiety. In the counseling office my music and music therapy backgrounds bring an added dimension to play therapy, or an additional connection point with musicians of any age.

When I am not working with students and counselees, my favorite activities include exploring Colorado’s mountains, gardening, walking my dog, and reading.
